So, I was having a conversation with my dog the other day. We were reading my wife's insightful blog, and he said something along the lines of "Awraaaawwrhaaaa" with that last part being real high pitched.
It's the only time I've ever been able to understand him quite literally, as he said, "Why don't you and I start a blog together?" I don't know quite where this gift to understand him came from, but I'll just rejoice in that moment, knowing that for one instant, I knew exactly what my dog wanted. It hasn't happened since.
I did tell him as best I could if he wanted to blog, he was going to have to learn some basic typing skills, but he's already ahead of the game there. His favorite thing to type is QWERTY. I also caught him trying to e-mail somebody named <trixie@dogdownthestreet.com>, looking for some treats. I don't think he really gets e-mail yet, but he's got some typing down, and since we've got a laptop already, my guess is he might find some time to jot down some thoughts, as will I from time to time.
Me and my dog Cody have a really good relationship I'd say...certainly from his end. He pretty much gets to do what he wants all the time. There's no kennel, no room or furniture off limits. He gets human food on special occasions, and gets a walk every morning, and has a nice big back yard full of squirrels to chase. He has numerous toys (stuffed bears, raccoons, squirrels, and several balls.) He even gets to sleep in the bed with us, which I know is his favorite thing. That and chicken.
He does have several names that we call him...one being Cody. But he is also known as Buddy, Dogman, Schnauzer, Little Man, the Dog, the Family Dog, Buddyhole, amongst others that come and go. I'm sure he'll bring this up sometime, as I imagine it confuses him. I'll be anxious to see what other behaviors in us he can point out. Now I have to let him know that I've done my part, and I'll be anxious to see how quickly he responds.
